LEONARDO OPENS REGIONAL CYBER CENTRE IN KUALA LUMPUR, STRENGTHENING SOUTHEAST ASIA’S CYBERSECURITY LANDSCAPE

Leonardo inaugurates its new Regional Cyber Centre in Kuala Lumpur, strengthening Malaysia’s role as a Southeast Asian cybersecurity hub and expanding the company’s global security network.

Kuala Lumpur, 03 December 2025 — Leonardo has inaugurated its new Regional Cyber Centre in Malaysia, marking a significant step in strengthening both the company’s global security footprint and Malaysia’s growing role as a strategic cybersecurity hub in Southeast Asia.

The launch event, attended by Malaysia’s Minister of Communications, Yang Berhormat Datuk Fahami Fadzil, highlighted Leonardo’s commitment to addressing the rapidly evolving and increasingly complex cyber threat environment. The new facility integrates the company’s proprietary technologies in cybersecurity, physical security and mission-critical communications, enhancing protection against emerging hybrid threats and supporting digital autonomy across the region.

Malaysia was chosen for the centre due to its advanced legislative framework and its strong focus on safeguarding critical national infrastructure. By leveraging Leonardo’s experience in strategic sectors in Italy and abroad, the centre will also contribute to sustainable development in Malaysia and the broader Southeast Asian region.

The Kuala Lumpur site becomes part of Leonardo’s Global CyberSec Center (GCC), which operates from its headquarters in Chieti, Italy. It joins the federated network of Regional Cyber Centres in Brussels, Bristol and Riyadh. Together, these facilities deliver cyber mission assurance to strategic customers including defence organisations and critical national infrastructure operators. This federated model supports global prevention, counteraction and response capabilities while maintaining the sovereignty and control of national strategic data.

Andrea Campora, Managing Director of Leonardo’s Cyber & Security Solutions Division, said the initiative represents a long-term investment in building a strong industrial and technological partnership with Malaysia. He noted that cyber self-reliance has become central to stability and that Leonardo aims to support the transformation of critical national infrastructures, such as National Cloud and National Security Operation Centres, into autonomous strategic assets.

The new Cyber Centre also aligns with Leonardo’s broader expansion strategy in the region. Recent acquisitions in Zero Trust architecture further reinforce the company’s leadership in global security, positioning Malaysia not only as a strategic hub for Southeast Asia but also as a potential focal point for the Far East.

Leonardo has maintained a presence in Malaysia for more than forty years. During this time, the company has supported the nation’s defence and aerospace needs with a broad portfolio that includes military and commercial helicopters, military aircraft, integrated defence systems such as radar and naval and electronic warfare capabilities, and security solutions for critical infrastructure and mission-critical communications.
