The site, which expanded to five dedicated paint bays in 2024, can accommodate up to 200 aircraft annually and supports Airbus’ growing single-aisle production programme.

Myrick emphasised that MAAS takes pride in its role as a key supplier to Airbus, noting that the collaboration is the result of a shared commitment to quality and operational excellence.

MAAS Aviation first opened in Mobile in 2015 with just 20 employees. Rapid growth followed, with two additional paint shops added in 2017 and two more in 2025. The facility now employs nearly 100 people, with expectations to expand to more than 150 over the next three years.

Myrick also highlighted that Airbus’ standards drive MAAS’ culture of excellence across all of its locations. “Our commitment to quality is perpetuated across all MAAS commercial aircraft painting facilities. We have the capability to design, build, and operate OEM painting centres aligned to manufacturer requirements and demanding planning schedules.”

Tim Macdougald, Chief Business Development Officer at MAAS Aviation, has been instrumental in developing the company’s partnership with Airbus across Europe and the United States. “Airbus placed their trust in us to design, build, and operate our first OEM paint shop in Hamburg, Germany, in 2011. The success of that partnership led to continued expansion, and last year we painted our 1,000th aircraft in Hamburg,” he said. “That success paved the way for our operations in Mobile, where we have now painted over 600 aircraft.”
