MAYDAY-SA EXPANDS AVIATION PEER SUPPORT NETWORK

Mayday-SA expands its aviation peer-support network and invites experienced volunteers to participate.

Volunteer call aims to strengthen industry wellbeing initiatives

Mayday-SA, a South African non-profit organisation, is expanding its peer-support network as part of its ongoing focus on aviation wellbeing.

The organisation provides confidential support to aviation professionals through a structured network of trained volunteers drawn from within the industry. The model enables individuals to engage with peers who understand the operational context of aviation environments.

Services are offered at no cost and are available across a broad range of roles, including pilots, maintenance personnel, engineers, and general aviation participants.

The initiative reflects growing recognition of the psychological impact associated with operational incidents and broader life pressures within safety-critical professions.

Mayday-SA is currently inviting experienced aviation professionals to apply as volunteers. Applicants are required to have a minimum of five years’ industry experience, demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, and commit to confidentiality and training requirements.

A three-day training programme is scheduled for 3–5 September 2026, with applications closing on 30 April 2026.

Applications can be submitted via email to general.enquiries@mayday-sa.org.za.
