MEXICANA TAKES DELIVERY OF FIRST EMBRAER E2 JET

São José dos Campos, Brazil – 30 June 2025 – Embraer has delivered the first E195-E2 aircraft to Mexicana, marking a key milestone in the state-owned airline’s fleet modernisation programme and strengthening the E2 jet family’s foothold in Latin America. The aircraft departed Embraer’s headquarters this morning, bound for its new home in Mexico.

The delivery is the first of 20 next-generation E2 aircraft ordered by Mexicana in 2024, comprising 10 E190-E2s and 10 E195-E2s. The acquisition represents a strategic investment aimed at enhancing domestic and regional connectivity, while improving operational efficiency and sustainability.

“This delivery marks a new chapter for Mexicana,” said Leobardo Bojórquez, CEO of Mexicana. “The E2’s performance, economics, and passenger appeal make it the perfect aircraft to support our growth strategy. We are excited to bring this new level of service and efficiency to our customers.”

Mexicana’s E2 jets will be configured in a single-class layout, featuring Embraer’s signature two-by-two seating with no middle seats, offering passengers a spacious and modern onboard experience. The E195-E2, Embraer’s largest commercial aircraft, brings 29% lower fuel consumption compared to its predecessor, thanks to its advanced aerodynamics, new-generation engines, and optimised systems.

Arjan Meijer, President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation, commented: “We are proud to deliver the first E2 to Mexicana and support the airline’s mission to connect more communities across Mexico with greater efficiency and comfort. The E2 is the most fuel-efficient single-aisle aircraft in the world, and it’s ideally suited to Mexicana’s network and sustainability goals.”

Part of Embraer’s E-Jets E2 family, the E190-E2 and E195-E2 are celebrated for their quiet operation, lower emissions, and best-in-class operating economics. The aircraft are equipped with full fly-by-wire technology, enhancing safety and reducing pilot workload. Mexicana’s E2 fleet will also benefit from Embraer’s comprehensive Services & Support, ensuring optimal operational performance and reliability.
