Mike Busch, founder and CEO of Savvy Aviation, has been awarded the 2026 Richard G. McSpadden General Aviation Safety Award by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA).
Award recognition
The award was presented on 17 March 2026 at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.
According to AOPA, the award recognises individuals whose work has had a lasting impact on general aviation safety.
Contribution to maintenance practices
Busch was recognised for his work in promoting data-driven aircraft maintenance and for his role in educating aircraft owners and mechanics.
His contributions include the development of maintenance guidance platforms and the use of engine data analysis to support operational decision-making.
Industry involvement
Busch has more than five decades of experience as a pilot, instructor and A&P/IA, and has authored books and articles focused on aircraft maintenance.
He is also involved in aviation media and education through publications, podcasts and technical webinars.
