NAL RESEARCH AND VECTORNAV JOIN FORCES ON GNSS-DENIED NAVIGATION SOLUTION

In a significant advancement for assured navigation technology, NAL Research and VectorNav Technologies have announced a collaborative effort to develop Iridium-based inertial navigation systems (INS) designed to function in GNSS-denied environments.

The joint project aims to deliver robust Assured Position, Navigation, and Timing (APNT) capabilities using a combination of VectorNav’s tactical-grade INS and NAL’s Iridium Satellite Time and Location (STL) receivers. These solutions are targeted at aerospace and military sectors, where jamming and spoofing of traditional Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) have become increasingly prevalent.

 

The new system integrates VectorNav’s VN-210E GNSS-aided INS with NAL Research’s ALTM Gen2 Mini Iridium STL receiver, creating a combined solution capable of delivering continuous high-rate position, velocity, and attitude data, even in dynamic environments and where GNSS signals are obstructed or compromised.

 

Iridium’s low-earth-orbit satellite network offers signals that are 1,000 times stronger than conventional GNSS, allowing them to penetrate buildings and maintain reliable performance in otherwise inaccessible areas.
