PIPER M700 FURY: REDEFINING SPEED AND PERFORMANCE IN SINGLE-ENGINE AVIATION

Piper Aircraft, Inc. has proudly announced the recent type certification of its groundbreaking flagship aircraft, the Piper M700 FURY, by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration. Achieved on February 29, 2024, this certification marks a significant milestone for Piper Aircraft, following swiftly after the new aircraft’s unveiling on February 6, 2024, and signals the commencement of customer deliveries.

At the heart of the M700 FURY’s appeal is its remarkable performance. With a maximum cruise speed of 301 knots and an impressive maximum range of 1,424 nautical miles, the M700 FURY stands as the fastest single-engine aircraft in Piper’s illustrious 87-year history. This cabin-class turboprop marvel boasts a Pratt & Whitney PT6A-52 engine, churning out 700 shaft horsepower, and is outfitted with the latest iteration of Garmin’s G3000 cockpit, including Garmin’s Emergency Autoland as part of Piper’s HALO safety system.

Let’s delve into some key performance highlights that set the M700 FURY apart:

Take-off Performance: The M700 FURY showcases exceptional take-off performance, boasting a take-off field length (TOFL) distance over a 50 ft. obstacle at sea level, standard day maximum gross takeoff weight (MGTOW) of a mere 1,994 ft. This represents a remarkable 24 percent improvement compared to its predecessor, the M600/SLS, and a staggering 38 percent reduction compared to a competing single-engine jet.

Initial Climb: Following a maximum gross takeoff weight departure, the M700 FURY achieves an outstanding climb rate of 2,048 feet per minute, a 32 percent improvement over the M600/SLS.

Climb to Altitude: Settling into the climb, the M700 FURY swiftly reaches a comfortable flight level of 250 (FL250) in just 13.9 minutes, 34 percent quicker than the M600/SLS, covering a shortened 34-mile distance while consuming significantly less fuel.

Cruise: The M700 FURY maintains a remarkable maximum cruise speed of 301 knots, ensuring swift and efficient travel.

Landing Performance: Even in landing, the M700 FURY excels, achieving a 26 percent reduction in landing distance over a 50 ft. obstacle compared to the M600/SLS and requiring less than half the ground roll distance of some competitors.

John Calcagno, President & CEO of Piper Aircraft, expressed his excitement, stating, “We are thrilled to announce the U.S. certification of the Piper M700 FURY by the FAA just a month after its announcement.” Calcagno added, “And there’s more to come. The FURY is just the first step in a new generation of our M-Class product line, so watch this space, as Piper’s M-Class will be expanding both above and below what we currently offer today.”

International validations for the M700 FURY by regulatory authorities in Canada (TCCA), Europe (EASA), the UK (CAA), and Brazil (ANAC) are anticipated to be completed in the second half of 2024, with customer deliveries in those regions scheduled before year-end.
