Air Algérie takes delivery of its first Airbus A330neo, powered exclusively by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, marking the start of a major fleet renewal programme.
Rolls-Royce has joined Airbus and Air Algérie to celebrate the delivery and Entry into Service (EIS) of the airline’s first widebody Airbus A330neo, powered solely by the Trent 7000 – the exclusive engine for the A330neo family.
The aircraft signals the launch of a significant fleet renewal strategy for Air Algérie, which is scheduled to receive ten A330-900neos by mid-2027. The delivery flight departed Airbus’ facility in Toulouse and touched down at Houari Boumediene International Airport on Thursday, 13 November.
Omar Ali Adib, Senior Vice President, Customers, Rolls-Royce, said: “We are honoured to power Air Algérie’s new generation of widebody aircraft with our Trent 7000 engines. For more than seven decades, the airline has built a proud legacy of connecting Africa, Europe and the Middle East, and is now looking confidently further into Asia and beyond as it expands its global reach.
The arrival of the A330neo marks a new chapter in this journey — one defined by efficiency, sustainability and ambition. Rolls-Royce is proud to stand alongside Air Algérie as it positions Algiers as a bridge between continents.”
The Trent 7000 is the seventh generation of the Trent engine family, the world’s most successful large aero engine series, with more than 200 million engine flying hours accumulated over the past 30 years. Delivering between 68,000 and 72,000lb of thrust, the engine offers a 14% improvement in fuel burn per seat and operates 6 decibels quieter than the Trent 700, developed for the earlier A330ceo. It is also fully compatible with 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), supporting the aviation sector’s progress toward net-zero emissions.
