Dallas, Texas – Collins Aerospace, a business under RTX (NYSE: RTX), introduced its latest innovation, the Venue™ smart monitor, at the Aircraft Electronics Association Convention & Trade Show’s new product introduction showcase.
.
The Venue™ smart monitor promises to revolutionize the cabin experience by offering an enhanced cabin management and in-flight entertainment solution. It can operate independently as an in-flight entertainment (IFE) system or seamlessly integrate within the Venue cabin management system (CMS). Equipped with embedded smart technology and a robust processing platform, the smart monitor simplifies future software updates and facilitates the integration of Collins’ suite of IFE products, including Airshow® moving maps and Stage™ on-demand entertainment.
This versatile smart monitor provides installation flexibility, allowing customers to upgrade their CMS and IFE solutions in a cost-effective, phased approach. According to Marc Ayala, senior director of sales for Business & Regional Aviation at Collins Aerospace, the Venue smart monitor offers passengers a single access point to control cabin functionality, individual comfort, and entertainment options. It enables simple software updates, third-party add-ons, and flexibility for owners to expand their IFE and CMS capabilities gradually.
With five different monitor sizes and 4K ultra-high-definition options, the Venue smart monitor offers pristine resolution and viewing enjoyment tailored to various cabin configurations and aircraft sizes. Its intuitive graphical user interface ensures a consistent user experience across touchscreen monitors, mobile applications, and cabin touch panels.
Beyond enhancing the passenger experience, the all-inclusive smart monitor also contributes to sustainability efforts. By replacing legacy Airshow moving maps bulkhead displays and consolidating hardware on board the aircraft, it reduces redundancies, optimises power usage, and decreases overall carry weight. These improvements lead to reduced fuel burn and associated carbon emissions, aligning with Collins Aerospace’s commitment to sustainable aviation.
