SAA LAUNCHES DIRECT CAPE TOWN–MAURITIUS ROUTE TO BOOST REGIONAL CONNECTIVITY

JOHANNESBURG, 28 July 2025 – South African Airways (SAA) will launch its first direct flights between Cape Town and Mauritius on 9 December 2025, marking a strategic expansion of the airline’s network and offering Western Cape travellers enhanced regional connectivity. The move reinforces SAA’s commitment to customer choice, leisure travel growth, and the promotion of tourism in both South Africa and Mauritius.

“Connecting Cape Town with Mauritius is a fascinating achievement that our team has been aspiring towards for quite some time,” said SAA Chief Executive Officer, Professor John Lamola. “The introduction of this route demonstrates SAA’s role in promoting leisure travel across the region and supports broader tourism objectives for both destinations. Passengers can look forward to our signature warm hospitality and world-class service on every flight.”

The new service will operate three times weekly from Cape Town every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Outbound flights depart at 09:25 AM, arriving in Mauritius at 4:30 PM, with a flight time of approximately five hours. The return flight leaves Mauritius at 5:20 PM and lands in Cape Town at 9:30 PM.

A temporary adjustment will occur between mid-January and mid-March 2026, when the route will operate twice weekly in response to seasonal demand.

“The flight schedule was developed in close consultation with South African tour operators to align with traveller preferences and peak holiday periods, providing maximum flexibility and convenience,” added SAA Chief Commercial Officer, Tebogo Tsimane.

Bookings for the Cape Town–Mauritius route are now open via www.flysaa.com or through accredited travel agents.
