SKYTRANS ADDS SECOND AIRBUS A319 TO BOOST ACMI CAPABILITIES IN AUSTRALIA

June 2025 – Australia — Skytrans, the first ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) provider in Australia under the Avia Solutions Group umbrella, has expanded its fleet with the addition of a second Airbus A319. This marks a strategic move to strengthen Skytrans’ role in the growing Australian aviation market and meet the increasing demand for flexible aircraft solutions.

The newly added A319 will play a pivotal role in enhancing Skytrans’ ACMI and charter operations, particularly in Perth, where the aircraft is now available for immediate deployment. With this expansion, Skytrans aims to support regional carriers with vital operational flexibility—whether to meet seasonal travel demand, cover maintenance downtime, or bridge short-term capacity gaps. The aircraft comes fully backed by experienced crew, certified maintenance, and comprehensive insurance coverage, ensuring seamless integration into airline networks.

“The addition of the second Airbus A319 is more than a fleet expansion,” said Gytis Gumuliauskas, Managing Director and CEO at Skytrans. “It will upgrade our operational capabilities, increasing our capacity and flexibility. This step strengthens our ACMI aviation services, enabling us to adapt to clients’ operational needs and offer more agile, cost-effective solutions.”

According to projections by the Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics (BITRE), Australia’s domestic passenger air travel is set to grow by 2.6% annually, with over 237 million passengers expected to pass through airports by 2050. This anticipated growth demands scalable and dependable solutions, which the ACMI model effectively provides by enabling airlines to quickly adjust capacity while improving profitability.

Skytrans has been strategically enhancing its fleet to align with this upward trajectory. In February 2025, it introduced its first Airbus A319, marking a key milestone in expanding jet-powered ACMI services. This was followed by the addition of Dash 8-200 aircraft in April, bolstering its regional capabilities alongside its existing Dash-8-100 and Dash-8-300 models. These turboprops are also positioned to support both ACMI and RPT (Regular Passenger Transport) services, including the new Lord Howe Island–Sydney route.

Now operating a fleet of 11 regional aircraft, Skytrans offers a blend of RPT, charter, and ACMI services tailored for both domestic and Asia-Pacific clients. The airline’s development is part of the broader strategy of Avia Solutions Group, the world’s largest ACMI provider with a global fleet of 209 aircraft and over 250 subsidiaries operating across six continents.

The acquisition of Skytrans by Avia Solutions Group in March 2024 has enabled the airline to rapidly scale its operations and respond effectively to market fluctuations—further solidifying its reputation for safety, reliability, and operational excellence.
