Geneva Airport (GVA) is set to welcome sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) this month, aligning with the sustainability focus of the annual European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE2024), scheduled for May 28-30.
SAF presents a game-changing opportunity, potentially slashing lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions from aviation by up to 80% compared to traditional fuels. Jet Aviation, a leading player in the industry, will deliver a 35% blend of SAF to GVA for the event, marking the company’s third consecutive year providing this eco-friendly option for EBACE attendees.
Joao Martins, Vice President of FBO Operations in Europe and General Manager at Jet Aviation Zurich, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “We are delighted to bring SAF to EBACE again this year. SAF is an important part of our efforts towards a more sustainable future, for the industry, and for Jet Aviation.”
The European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) and the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA), co-hosts of EBACE, have placed sustainability at the forefront of this year’s event. A three-day Sustainability Summit will highlight the industry’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions, featuring discussions on alternative propulsion technologies and projects like Swiss explorer Bertrand Piccard’s quest to circumnavigate the globe in an aircraft powered by green hydrogen.
Additionally, the event will showcase advanced air mobility aircraft, an innovation pavilion displaying next-generation planes, and the introduction of new sustainability standards for the industry.
Ed Bolen, President and CEO of NBAA, emphasised the significance of SAF, stating, “SAF remains a cornerstone of our plan for achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.”
Holger Krahmer, Secretary General of EBAA, echoed this sentiment, applauding Jet Aviation for its role in expanding sustainable fuel supplies globally and underscoring the importance of increasing the availability, production, and use of SAF.
EBACE serves as Europe’s premier platform for sustainable, on-demand aviation and advanced air mobility, drawing thousands of business leaders, government officials, manufacturers, and aviation professionals. With a focus on innovation and environmental stewardship, EBACE 2024 promises to drive the industry towards a more sustainable future.
