Trimble has introduced a new smart antenna enclosure option for its Trimble PX-1 RTX solution, aimed at accelerating integration and deployment timelines for commercial drone delivery operators and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) manufacturers.
The development reflects the continued expansion of the commercial drone delivery sector, where demand is increasing for precise positioning, resilient navigation systems, and reliable autonomous operation in complex operating environments.
The new enclosure integrates a jam-resistant antenna element from Calian with the Trimble PX-1 RTX platform in a compact package intended to reduce integration complexity for UAV developers.
According to Trimble, the solution is designed to help manufacturers avoid lengthy board-level integration and testing processes associated with radio frequency interference, mechanical noise, and antenna compatibility.
Joe Hutton, Director of Applanix Airborne Products at Trimble, said the system allows developers to integrate real-time centimetre-level positioning into UAV platforms within weeks rather than months.
The Trimble PX-1 RTX combines Trimble’s CenterPoint RTX correction services with GNSS-inertial hardware to provide real-time positioning and true heading capability. The system is intended to support improved control during take-off and landing operations, particularly in constrained or obstructed environments where positioning reliability is critical.
The integrated antenna technology is based on Calian’s Accutenna 4 platform and incorporates filtering technology designed to mitigate out-of-band radio frequency interference from sources including LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, and other signal environments that may affect GNSS performance.
Trimble stated that the enclosure option is expected to become available through Trimble Applanix sales channels during the third quarter of 2026.
