Specialist regional aircraft lessor TrueNoord has delivered three factory-new Airbus A220-300 aircraft to Breeze Airways under a long-term sale-and-leaseback agreement, marking the company’s first Airbus transaction and the largest aircraft type to join its portfolio to date.
All three aircraft were delivered to the American low-cost carrier in February 2026.
Anne-Bart Tieleman, Chief Executive Officer of TrueNoord, described the agreement as an important strategic milestone for the company, introducing Airbus aircraft into the lessor’s fleet for the first time.
FLEET EXPANSION
Supporting Breeze Airways’ network growth
Maarten Grift, TrueNoord Sales Director Americas, said the aircraft type plays a central role in Breeze Airways’ strategy to transition towards a single-type fleet while expanding its network across under-connected Tier 2 and Tier 3 city pairs.
The A220’s seating capacity and operating economics enable Breeze to serve routes that may not be viable for larger narrowbody aircraft. According to Grift, the trend reflects a broader pattern across the Americas as airlines expand or renew fleets with new-generation aircraft.
Trent Porter, Chief Financial Officer of Breeze Airways, said partnerships with companies such as TrueNoord support the airline’s mission of providing affordable and convenient air services. The carrier currently serves 86 cities across the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean.
PORTFOLIO STRATEGY
Focus on next-generation aircraft
Paul Murphy, Chief Financial Officer of TrueNoord, said the deliveries reflect the company’s approach to capital allocation, strengthening its portfolio with aircraft that support long-term operational efficiency for airline partners.
Tieleman added that the agreement demonstrates TrueNoord’s continued focus on supporting airline customers with next-generation, fuel-efficient aircraft.
The Airbus A220 complements TrueNoord’s existing Embraer E2 order book and aligns with the company’s interest in aircraft within the 100–150 seat segment.
