Amsterdam/Dublin/London/Singapore – September 2025: TrueNoord, the specialist regional aircraft leasing company, has delivered two ATR72-600 aircraft to TACV Cabo Verde Airlines on long-term operating leases. Based at Praia International Airport on Santiago Island, the turboprops are the first of their type to join the national carrier’s fleet. MSN 1512 arrived earlier this month, followed by MSN 1514 later in September.
“Intra-island connectivity is a geographic necessity and vital for the economy of the country, as it drives tourism, facilitates international trade and reconnection of the diaspora,” said Maarten Grift, Sales Director at TrueNoord. “The delivery of these ATRs will significantly increase CVA’s ability to meet the country’s mobility needs.”
Grift highlighted that the lease of the aircraft not only strengthens TrueNoord’s presence in Africa but also demonstrates the lessor’s commitment to supporting regional airlines with flexible solutions. He also acknowledged IndiGo’s cooperation in the streamlined redelivery of the aircraft.
Pedro Barros, Chairman & CEO of TACV Cabo Verde Airlines, noted: “We are pleased to partner with TrueNoord, a lessor with deep expertise in supporting regional airlines and a strong commitment to long-term collaboration. The lease of these two aircraft marks an important step for TACV Cabo Verde Airlines, better positioning us to enhance connectivity across our island nation. This partnership reflects our shared vision for sustainable regional aviation and passenger-focused service.”
Grift added that aviation in Africa continues to see above-average passenger growth, with airlines seeking to expand their fleets despite market challenges. He observed a strong increase in demand for regional aircraft, particularly turboprops, which are well suited to providing efficient and frequent connectivity across Africa’s diverse and often challenging terrain.
TrueNoord currently owns a fleet of more than 100 modern turboprops, regional jets and crossover aircraft on lease to over 30 operators in 24 countries.
