RIGHT-SIZED CAPACITY FOR A DEVELOPING FLAG CARRIER

TrueNoord has delivered an Embraer E195LR to Air Montenegro on a five-year operating lease, supporting the flag carrier’s network development. The aircraft, MSN 19000471, was delivered in late July and has begun operating intra-European regional routes from Podgorica. It represents a significant addition to a fleet the airline is steadily increasing in line with regional demand.

Michael Adams, Sales Director Europe and Executive Director of TrueNoord Services Ireland, described Air Montenegro as a developing and strengthening operator providing enhanced connectivity for the people of Montenegro and visitors to the country, and said TrueNoord was pleased to deliver an aircraft solution aligned with the carrier’s operational requirements and ambitions. He said the E195LR was widely recognised for its efficiency and flexibility on short- to medium-haul regional services, making it a strong fit for an operator that recognises the benefits of right-sized aircraft when opening new routes and increasing frequencies.

The right-sizing argument carries particular weight for a small flag carrier. A national airline serving a country of Montenegro’s size faces route economics in which the difference between a 120-seat and a 180-seat aircraft determines whether a service is viable at all, too much capacity and load factors collapse, too little and the frequency cannot be sustained. Leasing rather than owning gives the carrier the ability to adjust that calculation as the network develops, without committing capital to a fleet decision made before the demand is proven.

Vukadin Stojanovic, Chief Executive of Air Montenegro, said the airline looked forward to TrueNoord becoming a trusted long-term partner assisting its growth in the region, and that the E195LR gave it the right capacity and route options to strengthen its network and continue providing connectivity for Montenegro. Adams said the lease demonstrated TrueNoord’s ability to provide regional operators across Europe with aircraft and support structures tailored to their needs while helping them develop sustainable route networks.

TrueNoord is a specialist full-service regional aircraft lessor operating in the 50 to 150 seat capacity range, owning a fleet of more than 100 turboprop, regional jet and crossover aircraft on lease to more than 30 operators across 25 countries. The company marked its tenth anniversary in July 2026, reporting at that point that it had welcomed Arcus Infrastructure Partners as lead investor alongside Freshstream and had signed its first direct OEM order – twenty Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, with first delivery scheduled for the second half of 2027. It maintains offices in Amsterdam, Dublin, London and Singapore.
