VISTAJET BECOMES FIRST INTERNATIONAL PRIVATE JET OPERATOR AUTHORISED FOR DOMESTIC FLIGHTS IN SAUDI ARABIA

Riyadh, 20 August 2025 — In a landmark move for the Kingdom’s aviation sector, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has officially authorised VistaJet as the first international private jet operator permitted to operate domestic charter flights within Saudi Arabia.

This historic approval follows the recent removal of cabotage restrictions for on-demand charter operations, effective from 1 May 2025. The decision will allow VistaJet to conduct internal routes across the Kingdom, marking a new era for the country’s general aviation market.

Awad Alsulami, Executive Vice President for Economic Policies & Logistics Services at GACA, commented: “Authorizing VistaJet as the first international private jet operator for domestic operations in the Kingdom is a milestone in enhancing the general aviation market in Saudi Arabia. This step will foster greater competition, stimulate sector growth, and raise the quality of services for private aviation customers in the Kingdom and across the region.”

Supporting the Vision for 2030

This authorisation aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aims to position the Kingdom as the Middle East’s leading aviation hub by 2030, while transforming it into a global logistics centre connecting three continents. The move is also in line with GACA’s General Aviation Roadmap, which is focused on attracting foreign investment, upgrading infrastructure and supporting luxury travel and high-value tourism segments.

By allowing VistaJet to operate domestically, GACA is opening the market to international standards of service and fostering a more competitive environment, helping to elevate the Kingdom’s aviation ecosystem on both regional and global levels.

The initiative reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to creating a more dynamic and diversified aviation sector, contributing to tourism growth and strengthening Saudi Arabia’s reputation as a premier destination for premium travel.
