CALGARY, Alberta – 24 July 2025 – WestJet and Kenya Airways have announced a new interline agreement that opens seamless travel opportunities between Canada and 36 destinations across Africa, including single-stop access to Nairobi via key global hubs. This partnership expands both airlines’ reach, enhancing connectivity for business and leisure travellers across the Atlantic.
The agreement enables WestJet passengers to travel from Canadian cities such as Calgary, Halifax, St. John’s, and Toronto to Nairobi through established transatlantic gateways in Paris, Amsterdam, London Gatwick, London Heathrow, and New York JFK. Likewise, Kenya Airways passengers will benefit from one-stop access to 69 destinations throughout North America via WestJet’s network.
“This partnership is a continuation of our commitment to expanding global connectivity throughout the WestJet network,” said John Weatherill, WestJet’s Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer. “With the addition of Nairobi and other African destinations, we’re offering WestJet guests convenient and affordable single-ticket travel with through-checked baggage.”
Julius Thairu, Chief Commercial & Customer Officer at Kenya Airways, added: “We are excited about this interline partnership that allows us to provide our customers with more options for connectivity across the Atlantic and especially in Canada. Our mission to connect Africa to the world and the world to Africa remains central to our strategy.”
The interline agreement allows passengers to book a single itinerary combining flights from both carriers, with one check-in point and baggage transfer through to their final destination. Tickets will be available through travel agents and third-party booking platforms.
WestJet, now integrated with Sunwing, operates a fleet of nearly 200 aircraft and connects travellers to more than 100 destinations globally. As Canada’s largest vacation provider and a leader in low-cost air travel, WestJet continues to expand its international footprint.
Kenya Airways, a SkyTeam Alliance member, operates 45 destinations globally—37 of which are in Africa—and serves over 5 million passengers annually. Recognised for its African hospitality, the airline was named Best Airline Staff and Best Airline Cabin Crew in Africa by Skytrax in 2024.
With the aviation sector increasingly focused on bridging continents through strategic partnerships, this interline agreement stands as a significant step in linking African and Canadian markets more efficiently than ever before.
