Wichita, KS – Yingling Aviation has announced the launch of its Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic Apprenticeship Program, a move aimed at strengthening workforce development and supporting long-term growth in the aviation industry.
The programme debuted in Wichita with strong attendance, including the first class of apprentices, Yingling team members, government officials and aviation leaders. Designed to meet the rising demand for skilled technicians, the apprenticeship provides hands-on training and mentorship, preparing participants for FAA certification as A&P mechanics.
“Our industry thrives on talent, and this programme is about building a strong pipeline of aviation professionals who will keep Wichita at the forefront as the Air Capital of the World,” said Rodger Renaud, COO of Yingling Aviation. “We are proud to offer a programme that not only supports our company’s growth but also invests in the future of our community.”
The initiative was driven by Amy Preskitt, Yingling’s Training Manager and an Air Force veteran, whose focus on both technical skills and personal development shaped the programme’s launch. Her emphasis underscored the importance of producing well-rounded professionals equipped to thrive in the aviation sector.
At Yingling Aviation, employees are viewed as the company’s foundation. As CEO Bob Rasberry often remarks: “Without our people, we are just a bunch of hangars.” The apprenticeship underscores this philosophy by prioritising education, growth and success for the next generation of mechanics.
Yingling Aviation has welcomed its first wave of apprentices and plans to expand the programme to accommodate more participants in the years ahead.
