ABLE AEROSPACE EARNS FAA APPROVAL FOR NEW SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Commitment to safety takes centre stage in aircraft and component maintenance.

Able Aerospace Services, Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT) company, has achieved a significant milestone with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) accepting its new Safety Management System (SMS) implementation plan. The approval marks a major step forward in enhancing safety measures across the company’s aircraft and component maintenance operations.

With over 40 years of experience, Able Aerospace is a globally recognised leader in repair, overhaul, and approved replacement parts for fixed- and rotor-wing aircraft. The introduction of its SMS underscores the company’s steadfast commitment to delivering the highest levels of safety and quality.

“This FAA acceptance of Able’s Safety Management System plan signifies our dedication to integrating safety and quality into every aspect of our operations,” said Brad White, Senior Vice President of Global Parts and Programs. “Our team has consistently provided world-class repairs and overhauls, and this milestone reinforces our promise to our customers to prioritise safety.”

A Systematic Approach to Risk Management

A Safety Management System provides a structured framework for identifying, managing, and mitigating safety risks. Able Aerospace’s SMS includes comprehensive policies, procedures, and practices that are designed to manage safety risks effectively.

The cornerstone of Able’s SMS is a voluntary reporting tool that enables employees to anonymously report potential hazards or quality risks related to aircraft and components. Submissions are reviewed by the SMS Committee, which investigates the root cause, evaluates the risk, and develops actionable solutions. These findings are used to update processes and tools, ensuring continuous improvement in safety and quality standards.
