Rolls-Royce has responded positively to the UK Government’s renewed commitment to its Industrial Strategy, particularly the focus on advancing the aerospace and nuclear sectors. CEO Tufan Erginbilgic praised the government’s long-term strategic vision, highlighting the alignment with Rolls-Royce’s core capabilities in gas turbines, Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), and Advanced Modular Reactors (AMRs).
“Our highly differentiated technologies are uniquely placed to drive economic growth, create skilled jobs, and attract investment into the UK,” said Erginbilgic. “With government support, we look forward to reinforcing our widebody engine business and gaining a competitive edge in the rapidly expanding narrowbody engine market.”
A key opportunity lies in securing a UK engine position on the next generation of single-aisle aircraft—widely seen as the most significant aerospace opportunity for the next 50 years. Rolls-Royce aims to play a leading role in this market shift while also advancing its global leadership in next-generation nuclear technology and strengthening combat air capabilities for the UK and its allies.
Erginbilgic also welcomed measures to lower energy costs for electricity-intensive manufacturing industries, including aerospace, as well as the government’s continued support of research and innovation. The extension of the Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI) programme to 2035 was especially praised for ensuring the UK remains at the forefront of aerospace development.
“There is enormous potential to grow UK exports, skills, and employment across decades to come,” Erginbilgic concluded. “The time to implement this strategy, with urgency and precision, is now.”
