Capua, Italy – In a landmark development for European aviation training, Tecnam has delivered its first P2006T New Generation (NG) aircraft to Spain-based FlyBy Aviation Academy. This marks a significant step forward in the ongoing partnership between Tecnam and one of Europe’s fastest-growing and most internationally diverse Approved Training Organizations (ATOs).
The arrival of the P2006T NG underscores FlyBy’s commitment to providing cutting-edge training solutions for aspiring commercial pilots. Now operating a fleet of 30 Tecnam aircraft, the academy continues to lead with innovation, safety, and efficiency at the forefront of its training philosophy.
FlyBy, recently acquired by Sherpa Capital, is undergoing a rapid phase of expansion. Backed by the leading Iberian private equity firm, FlyBy’s growth strategy includes internationalisation and inorganic development, aiming to further cement its reputation as a premier global flight training institution.
The Tecnam P2006T NG – a modern twin-engine platform ideal for Multi-Engine Piston (MEP) training – is celebrated for its fuel efficiency, ease of operation, and contemporary avionics suite. Its inclusion in FlyBy’s fleet enhances the academy’s ability to deliver world-class instruction using state-of-the-art tools.
Pedro Carlos Pavesi, Director of FlyBy Aviation Academy, emphasised the importance of this acquisition:
“Our goal is to provide our cadets with the very best training environment, and that starts with the aircraft they fly. The Tecnam P2006T NG offers exactly what we need: modern systems, reliability, and a platform that prepares students for the demands of airline operations. We are proud to continue expanding our Tecnam fleet as we grow our global training community.”
Echoing the sentiment, Walter Da Costa, Tecnam’s Chief Sales Officer, stated:
“The collaboration between Tecnam and FlyBy represents the perfect synergy between innovative aircraft manufacturing and excellence in pilot training. Together, we are shaping the future of aviation by equipping the next generation of pilots with state-of-the-art technology and world-class instruction.”
FlyBy currently trains over 350 students annually from more than 117 countries, offering a rich, multicultural learning environment. The integration of the P2006T NG reinforces the academy’s position at the forefront of European aviation training, combining forward-thinking instruction with sustainable fleet choices.
Tecnam has also taken a lead in environmental responsibility. Data shows that training schools operating Tecnam’s fleet can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 10 tonnes per CPL student—a 60% reduction over 155 training hours, including 30 hours in a twin-engine aircraft, when compared to traditional 100LL-fueled fleets.
As Tecnam continues to push boundaries with a focus on tradition, innovation and vision, and FlyBy positions itself for global growth under Sherpa Capital’s strategic direction, this partnership is poised to set new standards in aviation education.
