London, 15 July 2025 — Bombardier’s new 51,000 sq. ft. paint facility at its London Biggin Hill Service Centre is rapidly progressing, with the steel framework now taking shape and cladding works already underway. The purpose-built, two-bay facility will further expand the site’s capabilities and is set to employ more than 50 skilled paint technicians upon completion in the second half of 2026.
This major investment underscores Bombardier’s ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive customer support, complementing its existing 250,000 sq. ft. service facility at the airport. The new paint hangar will allow for high-quality exterior finishes for Bombardier Global, Challenger, and Learjet aircraft, offering operators a full-spectrum maintenance and refurbishment experience at a single location.
“The addition of the new paint facility at the London Biggin Hill Airport adds a sought-after service element to the already comprehensive offerings for our customers,” said Sander Podgoric, General Manager of the London Biggin Hill Service Centre. “It ensures they have a complete maintenance experience to help keep their aircraft in the air.”
Bromley and Biggin Hill Member of Parliament, Peter Fortune, toured the facility on 4 July, expressing enthusiasm for the development. “It was incredible to see behind-the-scenes at Bombardier’s state-of-the-art engineering facility,” he said. “It is exciting to see their commitment to developing in Bromley with the construction of their new paint facility, creating more local jobs and opportunities.”
Since its inauguration in 2017 and expansion in 2022, the London Biggin Hill Service Centre has played a vital role in the regional economy and in Bombardier’s global service network. Beyond the paint facility, the company continues to enhance customer experience with initiatives such as the opening of a 700 sq. ft. interior material lounge in partnership with F/LIST and the installation of over 3,000 rooftop solar panels as part of its sustainability efforts. A new line maintenance station at Farnborough Airport was also recently introduced to support light scheduled and AOG services.
Bombardier’s Biggin Hill operation is a key part of its global network, which supports over 5,100 aircraft with 10 service centres across six countries.
