CHOOOSE INTEGRATES IATA CO2 CONNECT DATA FOR ACCURATE TRAVEL EMISSIONS REPORTING

GENEVA – The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has signed an agreement with software company Chooose to expand market access to IATA CO2 Connect emissions data. Airlines managing their Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) programmes through Chooose can now deliver IATA CO2 Connect’s trusted data—derived from operational inputs across more than 70 airlines and aligned with IATA RP 1726 and ISO 14083—directly to corporate and consumer travellers.

IATA research in April 2024 revealed that 40% of travellers, particularly business passengers, regularly check their flight-related carbon emissions. By providing CO2 Connect data through its platform, Chooose supports airlines and corporate partners in meeting this demand for transparency, enabling more informed decision-making.

“For years, Chooose has supported airlines, cargo, and travel companies with flexible access to emissions estimates to enable their SAF programmes and customer-facing applications,” said Joseph Beaudin, CEO of Chooose. “The addition of IATA CO2 Connect gives our partners access to an IATA dataset that continuously improves as more airlines report operational inputs and SAF usage.”

Over 30 global airline partners will now have the option to integrate IATA CO2 Connect into their emissions calculations. IATA emphasises that the platform is the only travel emissions calculator based on airline operational data and can account for SAF-related reductions.

“IATA CO2 Connect is the only carbon calculator for travel emissions that is based on airline operational data. We want IATA CO2 Connect data to be as broadly available as possible so that those managing travel can work with the most accurate information. Working with Chooose is a key part of that strategy,” said Frederic Leger, IATA’s Senior Vice President for Commercial Products & Services.

Chooose is a member of the IATA Strategic Partnerships Program and continues to contribute to industry-wide decarbonisation initiatives by supporting the development of standards and expanding access to reliable emissions data across the aviation sector.
