Lockheed Martin has delivered five new Black Hawk® helicopters to the Philippine Air Force (PAF), reinforcing the ongoing modernisation of the country’s defence capabilities and strengthening its position among the global fleet of Black Hawk operators.
“The Sikorsky Black Hawk helicopter’s proven track record in enhancing interoperability and joint readiness, as demonstrated in exercises like Cope Thunder 2025, will continue to drive cooperation and commonality between the United States and the Philippines,” said Bill Blair, Lockheed Martin Vice President and Regional Chief Executive, Asia & India. “The Black Hawk helicopter’s versatility in disaster response, humanitarian aid, and infrastructure protection has been instrumental in amplifying national resilience and advancement, and we are committed to supporting the Philippine Air Force in their mission to protect and serve the Filipino people.”
Recent PAF operations have showcased the aircraft’s versatility. In April, the 205th Tactical Helicopter Wing conducted joint training exercises with the Philippine Navy aboard the BRP Davao del Sur. In May, the PAF participated alongside the U.S. Air Force in Cope Thunder Philippines, integrating S-70i Black Hawks into comprehensive flight and field training exercises.
Beyond training, the helicopters have played a vital role in disaster response. During Super Typhoon Ofel in November, the PAF used Black Hawks for rapid damage assessment and transport of relief goods to affected areas in Cagayan province. In the same month, the aircraft were deployed in firefighting operations in Tondo, Manila, completing 15 heli bucket sorties to contain a major fire.
The delivery of these five additional helicopters highlights Lockheed Martin’s ongoing commitment to supporting the Philippine Air Force and bolstering the country’s defence and humanitarian response capabilities.
