Textron Aviation has introduced a Gogo 5G connectivity upgrade for multiple Cessna Citation business jets, following FAA certification of the system.
5G CONNECTIVITY UPGRADE APPROVED
Textron Aviation has announced the availability of a Gogo 5G connectivity upgrade for a range of Cessna Citation aircraft, enabled by the issuance of a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) from the Federal Aviation Administration.
Â
The upgrade is available as an aftermarket installation or as an enhancement to existing AVANCE systems, and can be carried out at Textron Aviation Service Centres.
Â
Aircraft currently covered include the Citation Longitude, X+, X, Sovereign+, Sovereign, Latitude, XLS Gen2, XLS+, XLS and Excel.
ENHANCED IN-FLIGHT PERFORMANCE
The Gogo 5G system is designed to deliver higher data speeds, reduced latency and improved cabin Wi-Fi performance. It supports applications such as video conferencing, streaming and cloud-based services across multiple connected devices.
Â
A dual-band router and dynamic data management tools are incorporated to optimise bandwidth distribution and maintain consistent performance throughout the cabin.
Â
Â
FLEET EXPANSION PLANNED
Textron Aviation has indicated that the upgrade will be extended to additional aircraft, including the Citation CJ4, CJ3+ and CJ3, subject to further FAA certification approvals.
Â
The phased rollout reflects ongoing demand from operators for improved in-flight connectivity as passenger expectations and operational requirements evolve.
Â
Â
SUPPORT NETWORK AND IMPLEMENTATION
Textron Aviation’s global service network, supported by more than 300 authorised service facilities and mobile support units, will facilitate installation and ongoing support for the system.
Â
The upgrade forms part of the company’s broader focus on lifecycle support and incremental capability improvements across its fleet.
Â
Â
OPERATIONAL CONTEXT
The introduction of 5G cabin connectivity reflects a wider trend in business aviation, where connectivity is increasingly viewed as a core operational requirement rather than a passenger convenience.
Â
For operators, improved connectivity supports both onboard productivity and real-time access to operational data, aligning aircraft capability more closely with modern digital workflows.
