Universidad de San Martin de Porres in Peru has added two Tecnam P2008JC MkII aircraft to expand pilot training capacity and modernise its fleet.
Universidad de San Martin de Porres (USMP) in Peru has introduced two Tecnam P2008JC MkII aircraft into its Aeronautical Sciences programme as part of a fleet modernisation initiative aimed at expanding pilot training capacity and aligning instruction with international standards.
FLEET MODERNISATION FOR TRAINING
The aircraft were delivered through a partnership between Tecnam, AEROTEC and the university. According to the institutions, the new aircraft will support practical flight training for students enrolled in USMP’s Aeronautical Sciences programme.
The programme currently has 441 enrolled students and has been training aviation professionals for national and international markets since its establishment in 2012.
USMP said the addition of the aircraft will increase operational training capacity, improve flight scheduling efficiency and support student access to modern training technology.
P2008JC MKII SELECTED FOR TRAINING OPERATIONS
The Tecnam P2008JC MkII is recognised for its lightweight construction, fuel efficiency and operational simplicity, characteristics which make it suitable for ab initio pilot training environments.
The university stated that operating modern aircraft will help students develop technical competencies aligned with current airline industry requirements while also supporting more sustainable training operations.
AEROTEC TO PROVIDE REGIONAL SUPPORT
AEROTEC, Tecnam’s regional distributor and service centre for South America, will provide operational support, fleet integration assistance and after-sales services for the aircraft.
According to the company, maintaining high dispatch reliability is critical for large flight training organisations operating continuous flight schedules.
AEROTEC currently supports more than 400 Tecnam aircraft operating across South America, with a direct presence in Argentina, Chile and Brazil.
INSTITUTIONAL AND INDUSTRY SUPPORT
Cesar Cabrera, Director of the School of Aeronautical Sciences at USMP, said the aircraft acquisition represents an important milestone for the faculty and supports the institution’s objective of training aviation professionals to international standards.
Diego Cardama, Director of AEROTEC and Tecnam’s dealer for Latin America, said the delivery reflects Tecnam’s expanding presence in South America and ongoing support for regional flight training institutions.
Tecnam Chief Sales Officer Walter Da Costa added that the partnership supports USMP’s ambition to strengthen its position within aeronautical education in Latin America.
