China successfully launched a new batch of satellites for its Spacesail Constellation programme on 18 May 2026, using a Long March-8 carrier rocket from the Hainan commercial spacecraft launch site.
LAUNCH DETAILS
The launch took place at 22:42 Beijing Time from Hainan Province in southern China. According to the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), the satellites successfully entered their preset orbit following launch.
SPACESAIL CONSTELLATION
The satellite group forms the ninth batch of the Spacesail Constellation, which continues to expand China’s low Earth orbit satellite network capability.
The Long March-8 launch vehicle is part of China’s growing commercial and national space launch infrastructure and is regularly used for constellation deployment missions.
