AEROMEDIC INTRODUCES NEXT-GENERATION SOFT-CASE FIRST AID KITS

Aeromedic, part of AMETEK MRO, has introduced new soft-case first aid kits designed to improve safety, usability, compliance, and operational readiness for airline operators.

Operator-led design focused on safety and usability

Aeromedic, a business of AMETEK MRO, has introduced a new range of soft-case in-flight emergency medical and first aid kits developed in response to airline operational feedback and aerospace compliance requirements.

According to the company, the updated kits have been designed to improve safety, inspection efficiency, usability, and operational readiness in aircraft environments. The development programme focused on four areas: design and ergonomics, visibility and organisation, safety and compliance, and operational readiness.

Designed for operational handling

Jack Blackman, Technical Development Engineer at Aeromedic, said the kits were developed with weight reduction and in-cabin handling in mind. The soft-case construction is intended to reduce the risk of passenger or crew injury during cabin transport while maintaining durability. Larger kits incorporate dual carry handles to improve manoeuvrability in confined aircraft spaces.

Aeromedic stated that the internal layout has been configured to improve access to critical items during time-sensitive situations. The kits also feature standardised layouts intended to support training consistency and procedural compliance.

Additional features include detachable internal pouches for modular use, externally accessible contents lists, reflective pull tabs for low-light conditions, and protective storage areas for ampoules and vials to reduce breakage risks.

Compliance and traceability

Aeromedic said the kits conform to CS-25.853 Appendix F, Part I(a)(1)(ii) flame test requirements for certified aircraft use. The company added that each kit incorporates individual serialisation to support content management, traceability, and recall procedures where necessary.

The kits also incorporate anti-tamper sealing systems and water-resistant outer materials intended to improve durability and security in operational environments.

Support for international operations

Aeromedic noted that multilingual labelling and documentation form part of the design approach to support international airline operations and regulatory alignment.

Blackman said the new kits reflect operational realities experienced by airlines and cabin crews during in-service use.
