AIRLINK ADDS DIRECT CAPE TOWN–MAURITIUS FLIGHTS

New route strengthens leisure and business links

Airlink has announced the launch of a new twice-weekly non-stop service between Cape Town and Mauritius, with flights scheduled to commence on 02 October 2026.

The new route will mark Airlink’s first scheduled service to the Indian Ocean island and further expand the airline’s regional network from its Cape Town hub. Bookings for the service are now open.

Mauritius remains a popular destination for international travellers, supported by its established tourism sector, beach resorts, golf facilities and visa-on-arrival access for citizens of more than 140 countries. In addition to tourism, the island has developed into a significant investment and trade centre with activity across financial services, information technology, manufacturing, agriculture and offshore business sectors.

E195-E2 TO OPERATE THE SERVICE

The airline will operate the route using its Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, configured to accommodate 124 passengers, including 12 business class and 112 economy class seats. The aircraft features a two-seat configuration on either side of the aisle, eliminating middle seats.

According to Airlink Chief Executive Officer de Villiers Engelbrecht, the airline’s newest aircraft has enabled the introduction of the direct service between Cape Town and Mauritius.

He said the route would provide travellers with a convenient alternative to connecting through Johannesburg while also strengthening Cape Town’s role as an important source market and connecting hub for both leisure and business travel.

Schedule designed for passenger convenience

Airlink said the flight schedule is being developed to maximise holiday time for leisure travellers while also supporting efficient business travel itineraries. The airline indicated that departures and arrivals would avoid disruptive overnight and pre-dawn timings.

Cape Town serves as Airlink’s second hub, supporting domestic and regional services as well as long-haul connectivity through the airline’s global partner network.

Passengers travelling on the route will receive complimentary meals and refreshments. Airlink also provides a 20kg free luggage allowance for discounted economy fares and 30kg for full-fare economy tickets. In addition, travellers are entitled to a 15kg sporting equipment allowance.

AIRLINK CONTINUES NETWORK DEVELOPMENT

Airlink, established in 1992, operates a fleet of more than 70 regional jet aircraft serving destinations throughout Southern Africa, Madagascar and St Helena Island. The carrier maintains partnerships with a range of international airlines, providing onward global connectivity through its network.

The airline is a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), holds IOSA safety accreditation and is certified under the IATA Environmental Assessment (IEnvA) programme.
