Embraer has completed the acquisition of the remaining 50% stake in Mexico-based EZ Air Interior Limited from Safran Cabin, alongside the integration of related Safran Cabin operations in Jacareí, Brazil, expanding the Brazilian manufacturer’s vertical integration across its E-Jet commercial aircraft programmes.
ACQUISITION BRINGS CABIN INTERIOR PRODUCTION FULLY IN-HOUSE
Embraer has announced the conclusion of the acquisition of additional stake in its joint venture with Safran Cabin, together with certain related assets in Brazil. The transaction encompasses the remaining 50% stake in EZ Air Interior Limited, a Mexico-based aerospace manufacturer established in 2012 as a 50/50 joint venture between Embraer and C&D, the entity now operating as Safran Cabin, at a facility in Chihuahua dedicated exclusively to Embraer programmes.
Francisco Gomes Neto, President and Chief Executive of Embraer, said the company continuously evaluated opportunities to create value for its stakeholders, and that the agreement supported its strategy to expand operations in both the short and long term. He thanked Safran Cabin for a successful long-term partnership and welcomed the new colleagues joining Embraer, saying the combined team would continue to deliver excellence driven by safety, quality, efficiency and sustainability.
SCOPE OF THE TRANSACTION
EZ Air Interior Limited operates a facility employing 1,100 people in Chihuahua, Mexico, producing aircraft cabin interior components exclusively for Embraer’s E-Jet E1 and E2 families. These components include overhead luggage bins, galleys, lavatories and floor panels. With the completion of the acquisition, EZ Air now operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of Embraer, reinforcing the company’s production capabilities and its support for global E-Jet fleets.
The agreement also encompasses the integration of part of Safran Cabin’s operations in Jacareí, Brazil, which are likewise dedicated exclusively to Embraer programmes. The non-Embraer engineering services activities of Safran Cabin Brazil will remain with Safran. The transaction was completed following the receipt of all necessary regulatory approvals and the fulfilment of customary conditions.
