The twice-weekly non-stop service, operated by Airlink’s new Embraer E195-E2, gives Western Cape travellers a direct alternative to connecting through Johannesburg.
Airlink operated its inaugural flight from Cape Town to Mauritius on 2 October 2026, launching a non-stop route between two of the region’s most popular leisure and business travel destinations. It is the airline’s first route to Mauritius, operated twice weekly by Airlink’s new Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. “Our new flagship aircraft, the E195-E2, makes it possible for Airlink to conveniently connect Cape Town with Mauritius. The route is an important addition to Airlink’s network and strengthens the connection between these two important tourism and business markets,” said de Villiers Engelbrecht, Airlink CEO. The schedule is designed to maximise holiday time for leisure travellers and to support business itineraries without disruptive middle-of-the-night or pre-dawn departures and arrivals.
More than 1.4 million visitors travelled to Mauritius in 2025, with South Africa among its largest source markets. More than 140 South African businesses operate across the island’s agricultural, manufacturing, consumer goods and ICT sectors, while Mauritius’ financial services and business process outsourcing industries, along with its tax and offshore business incentives, support wider commercial ties between the two markets.
Airlink’s E195-E2 aircraft accommodate 124 passengers, including 12 in the airline’s staggered Business Class configuration, and an all two-by-two Economy Class layout with no middle seats. Customers receive a 20kg free luggage allowance on discounted economy tickets, rising to 30kg for full-fare economy travellers, plus a 15kg sporting equipment allowance.
