The global aviation community eagerly anticipates AERO 2025, a premier event that encapsulates the entire spectrum of General Aviation. From air sports aircraft to cutting-edge business jets, the showcase promises to be a melting pot of aviation innovation and collaboration, underscoring its status as a global hub for the industry.
A Year of Optimism for General Aviation
General Aviation enters 2025 buoyed by strong demand across various sectors. Flight schools are thriving amid a global pilot shortage, fuelling robust orders for training aircraft. Meanwhile, private buyers continue to show interest in single-engine and twin-engine piston aircraft, despite economic uncertainties. These factors set an optimistic tone for AERO 2025.
Tobias Bretzel, AERO show director at Fairnamic, highlighted the event’s expanding reach:
“The number of exhibitor registrations is already 10% higher than last year. We’re delighted to welcome new companies and returning pavilions, such as the Dutch Pavilion and the first-ever Chinese Innovation Pavilion, both showcasing sustainable aviation advancements.”
Innovations Shaping the Future
AERO 2025 continues to position General Aviation as an incubator for technological advancements. The trade fair will showcase innovations like hydrogen fuel cell engines, electric aircraft, and lighter materials, highlighting their potential to transform aviation. Visitors can follow the AERO Sustainable Aviation Trail, which links companies leading the charge in sustainability.
Key industry developments will also feature prominently, including the ultralight aircraft sector, which has embraced Germany’s raised weight limit to 600 kilograms. This regulatory change has spurred the creation of more advanced and diverse ultralight models, which will be on display.
Expanded Focus Areas
- Business Aviation: AERO 2025 will debut the Business Aviation Dome, providing a dedicated space for business aviation exhibitors alongside traditional sectors like piston aircraft, gliders, and gyrocopters.
- AERODrones: Now in Hall B4, AERODrones aligns more closely with helicopter exhibitors in Hall B5. The three-day event, running April 9-11, will feature key players like Airbus, Bell, and Leonardo, complemented by a four-day rotorcraft conference.
- Gliding and Helicopters: The AERO Gliding Expo in Hall A1 and the helicopter-focused section will showcase innovations and foster dialogue among manufacturers, operators, and suppliers.
Knowledge Exchange and Career Opportunities
AERO 2025 will host over 200 conference sessions, including the AERO Hydrogen & Battery Summit and the General Aviation Academy, which will address topics ranging from sustainability to advanced avionics. The aviation sector’s need for skilled professionals—engineers, software developers, and cockpit personnel—will also be a focal point, with exhibitors leveraging the event to attract new talent.
A Platform for Networking and Growth
The event is not just about technology but also about forging connections. A special evening gathering on April 9 will offer exhibitors and customers an informal setting for discussions, reinforcing AERO’s role as a cornerstone of the General Aviation calendar.
AERO 2025 will run from April 9 to April 12 in Friedrichshafen, Germany, drawing exhibitors and visitors from around the globe.
