AFRAA AND ENV-ISA PARTNER FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

January 2025, Paris, France – In a significant step towards advancing sustainability in Africa’s aviation sector, Env-isa and the African Airlines Association (AFRAA) have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement establishes a framework for collaboration, targeting the sustainable growth of the African aviation industry while reinforcing its role in economic development across the continent.

Under the terms of the MoU, both organizations will work in unison to address shared objectives such as capacity building, policy development, and promoting sustainability practices. Env-isa brings over two decades of expertise in aviation sustainability to the table, complementing AFRAA’s vision of creating a competitive and environmentally conscious air transport industry in Africa.

Key Areas of Focus

The partnership will prioritize several critical areas, including:

  • Supporting the sustainability of African airlines and ecosystem stakeholders.
  • Developing environmental policies tailored to the region.
  • Implementing training programs and building human capacity.
  • Advancing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) initiatives across Africa.
  • Facilitating carbon management strategies to achieve NetZeroEmit goals.
  • Conducting assessments on noise, air quality, and lifecycle impacts.
  • Enhancing ESG reporting frameworks.
  • Designing and delivering carbon offset strategies and projects.

Leadership Perspectives

Ms. Ayçe Çelikel, CEO and co-founder of Env-isa, expressed her enthusiasm:
