Angola deploys SITA’s API PNR Gateway at Luanda airport to strengthen border security, improve passenger data management and meet international standards.
New passenger data systems and monitoring centre enhance Angola’s border management, security compliance and operational efficiency.
Â
Luanda – December 2025 – Angola is enhancing its border security and passenger management capabilities with the deployment of SITA’s Advance Passenger Information and Passenger Name Record Gateway (API PNR Gateway) at Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport in Luanda.
Â
The implementation forms part of Angola’s broader national programme to modernise its border management systems and is supported by SITA’s Passenger Information Unit consultancy. The initiative is designed to strengthen operational efficiency and reinforce data governance frameworks across the country’s aviation and border control operations.
Â
The API PNR Gateway enables airlines to transmit two critical categories of passenger data to authorities prior to departure. Advance Passenger Information includes passport and identity details, while Passenger Name Record data provides travel itinerary and booking information. According to SITA, consolidating these data sets allows authorities to gain an early and comprehensive view of incoming travellers, supporting more informed and timely decision-making.
Â
The deployment was accompanied by the opening of a new Passenger Information Monitoring and Management Centre in Luanda, providing a centralised capability to manage and analyse passenger data in support of border security operations.
The system also supports compliance with international requirements established by the United Nations Security Council, the International Civil Aviation Organisation and the European Union, improving Angola’s ability to respond to evolving security standards and obligations.
Â
Commenting on the deployment, Autoridade Nacional da Aviação Civil president Amélia KuvÃngua said the system enables preventive and coordinated action, more effective management of migratory flows, and improved preparedness against transnational crime. She noted that with SITA’s specialised support, Angola now has the capacity to operate these systems with confidence and efficiency.
