ATLAS AIR WORLDWIDE PLACES LANDMARK ORDER FOR 20 AIRBUS A350F FREIGHTERS

Atlas Air Worldwide has placed a firm order for 20 Airbus A350F freighters, marking the largest order to date for the next-generation aircraft and establishing the company as the largest customer for the type.

Order strengthens fleet modernisation strategy

Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, Inc., headquartered in New York, has confirmed a firm order for 20 Airbus A350F freighters. The agreement represents the largest single order for the aircraft and positions Atlas as the leading customer for Airbus’ latest-generation freighter platform.

The aircraft will be deployed to support growth across Atlas’ global operations. As an outsourced aviation logistics provider, the company operates across multiple business models and markets, allowing it to introduce the A350F’s capabilities to a broad customer base.

Commitment to efficiency and sustainability

Michael Steen, Chief Executive Officer of Atlas Air Worldwide, stated that the order reflects the company’s focus on maintaining a modern and fuel-efficient widebody freighter fleet. He noted the A350F’s payload and range capabilities, as well as its sustainability profile, as key factors in the decision.

The agreement also introduces Airbus aircraft and Rolls-Royce engines into Atlas’ supplier base, expanding its operational flexibility and supporting future growth.

A350F positioned as next-generation freighter platform

Airbus highlighted the significance of the order, noting that Atlas Air becomes the first customer in the United States for the A350F. The aircraft is designed as a new-generation freighter, developed to meet the requirements of global cargo operators.

The A350F features the largest main deck cargo door in its class and is optimised for standard industry pallets and containers. More than 70% of the airframe is constructed from advanced materials, contributing to a reduction in take-off weight of up to 46 tonnes compared to competing derivative aircraft.

The aircraft is also expected to meet ICAO’s enhanced CO₂ emissions standards, which will come into effect in 2027.

Global operations underpin deployment

Atlas Air Worldwide operates as a leading provider of outsourced aviation logistics services. Through its subsidiaries — Atlas Air, Inc., Titan Aviation Holdings, Inc., and Polar Air Cargo Worldwide, Inc. — the company serves a global customer base across more than 300 destinations in 90 countries, supported by approximately 5,000 employees.
