AVIATION LEADERS CONVERGE IN THE BAHAMAS TO SHAPE FUTURE REGIONAL AIR CONNECTIVITY

The 18th edition of Routes Americas, a premier regional air service development event, will bring together vice presidents and network planning heads from 90 leading airlines. Scheduled to take place in Nassau and Paradise Island, The Bahamas, this highly anticipated event will facilitate over 3,000 meetings between airlines, airport representatives, and destination stakeholders to explore and define new route opportunities.

Among the global carriers in attendance are Air Canada, British Airways, Delta Air Lines, jetBlue, and LATAM Airlines, reflecting the event’s prominence in shaping the aviation industry across the Americas.

The event will also feature a robust Conference Programme, with contributions from key industry figures:

  • Tracy Cooper, CEO of Bahamasair, will share the airline’s strategic vision.
  • Jude Bricker, CEO of Sun Country Airlines, will discuss innovative approaches to network expansion.
  • Neil Chernoff, Chief Planning and Strategy Officer of British Airways, will outline the carrier’s $9 billion investment in sustainability and operations.
  • Victor Mejia, Chief Commercial Officer of JetSmart, will highlight the airline’s expansion into Colombia and the planned debut of its first A321XLR aircraft.

A Platform for Growth and Collaboration

The event is co-hosted by the Nassau & Paradise Island Promotion Board, the Nassau Airport Development Company, and the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation. As a leading Caribbean destination, The Bahamas has made significant progress in expanding air connectivity, with 2024 recording a 7% increase in airport capacity at Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA), totaling 3 million departure seats.

 

Steven Small, Director of Routes, emphasised the event’s critical role:

“With a record number of airlines attending and our largest exhibition to date, Routes Americas 2025 is pivotal for the air service development community. Previous host destinations have seen networks grow 6.9% faster than comparable airports within three years.”
