BARIG (Board of Airline Representatives in Germany) has announced the addition of AJet as a new member of its international airline community. The announcement was made in Frankfurt am Main on 28 January 2026.
AJet is Türkiye’s youngest low-cost airline and a growing subsidiary of Turkish Airlines. The carrier connects Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia with major cities and leisure destinations in Türkiye. It operates in 34 countries, serving 59 international destinations alongside more than 40 domestic routes. In Germany, AJet currently operates services to eight airports.
Growing network and modern fleet
BARIG described AJet as a dynamically developing airline with a focus on modern, low-emission and fuel-efficient aircraft combined with targeted route planning. AJet’s current fleet comprises approximately 90 aircraft, including Airbus A320neo and A321neo models, as well as Boeing 737-800 and 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
According to current plans, AJet expects its fleet to more than double to around 200 aircraft within the next ten years. Over the same period, the airline anticipates expanding its network to serve more than 50 countries.
Germany as a key market
AJet identified Germany as one of its key markets and highlighted the importance of industry dialogue and representation during a period of change within the aviation sector. Through BARIG membership, the airline aims to engage more closely with industry stakeholders and partners while supporting its strategic growth objectives.
BARIG represents the interests of more than 100 national and international airlines across scheduled, charter, low-cost and air cargo operations. Founded in 1951, the association acts as an industry interface for policymakers, authorities, industry partners and the media in Germany.
