BOEING RELEASES 4TH ANNUAL SAFETY REPORT

SEATTLE, 21 May 2025 – Boeing has released its fourth annual Chief Aerospace Safety Officer (CASO) report, reinforcing its commitment to a company-wide safety culture and the integration of its Safety Management System (SMS) across all operational levels.

The 2025 CASO report outlines a series of actions taken over the past year to enhance product safety and safety leadership, while aligning with recommendations from a Congressionally mandated expert panel. The report also highlights significant progress in fostering internal safety practices and collaborative industry-wide solutions.

“Safety is at the core of everything we do. In our industry, continuous learning is required to achieve the highest levels of safety,” said Don Ruhmann, Boeing’s Chief Aerospace Safety Officer. “The multiple ways we at Boeing are learning – and applying that knowledge to drive improvements that protect human life – continues to expand.”

Advancing Safety Culture

A central focus of the report is Boeing’s internal safety culture. The company has doubled participation in its SMS Champions Program, growing to over 1,000 employees. These Champions play a pivotal role in embedding SMS principles throughout Boeing’s global teams and manufacturing facilities.

Additionally, employee engagement has been strengthened through Speak Up, Boeing’s dedicated reporting channel for safety, quality, and compliance concerns.

Evolving Safety Practices

Boeing has formally submitted to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) a detailed set of corrective measures in response to the expert panel’s findings. The implementation of Design Build Safety reviews—integrating safety risk management into early-stage design and production—has become a cornerstone of Boeing’s revised safety protocols.

The company has also broadened its use of machine learning technologies to identify and mitigate emerging safety risks proactively, supported by enhanced data sources and analysis systems.

Industry Collaboration

Beyond internal initiatives, Boeing continues to work closely with the broader aviation sector. More than 300 airline operators are currently engaged in jointly developing integrated safety solutions.

Boeing also hosted its third annual Aviation Safety Conference, bringing together approximately 300 aviation safety experts from across the industry. The event served as a platform for knowledge-sharing and strategic alignment on global safety improvements.
