Textron Aviation enhances avionics suite with greater situational awareness and connectivity
Wichita, Kan. – 24 September 2025 – The Cessna Citation Latitude, the best-selling business jet in its class and produced by Textron Aviation Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, has secured Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification for a suite of new enhancements to its Garmin G5000 avionics.
The upgrades include the Synthetic Vision Guidance System (SVGS), enabling approaches down to 150 feet, the GDL 60 Datalink for high-bandwidth connectivity, and a new taxiway routing feature designed to improve navigation in low-visibility conditions.
After accumulating more than 240 hours of flight testing and successfully completing a range of certification evaluations, the enhanced Citation Latitudes are expected to enter service before the end of this year.
Chris Hearne, senior vice president of Engineering & Programs at Textron Aviation, said:

The advanced Garmin G5000 avionics suite now offers operators a range of new features, including:
- Synthetic Vision Guidance System (SVGS) displayed on primary flight displays, coupled with Synthetic Vision Technology (SVT), supporting approach minima down to 150 ft (46 m).
- 3D SafeTaxi, providing a three-dimensional view of airports for improved situational awareness during taxi operations.
- GDL 60 Datalink, enabling seamless connectivity and automatic wireless database updates.
- Integrated taxiway routing, assisting pilots in complex airport environments during low visibility.
- Standard ADS-B In, delivering enhanced traffic awareness and visual separation assistance during approaches.
Customers may also opt to add the Runway Overrun Awareness and Alerting System (ROAAS), designed to further support landing safety by alerting pilots to potential runway overruns during the critical landing phase.
