BOMBARDIER GLOBAL 8000 RECEIVES EASA CERTIFICATION

Bombardier’s Global 8000 business jet has received EASA certification, following approvals in Canada and the United States, confirming its entry into global service as the world’s fastest civilian aircraft.

Bombardier has announced that its Global 8000 business jet has received certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), marking a further regulatory milestone for the programme. The EASA approval follows Transport Canada type certification on 5 November 2025 and certification by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on 19 December 2025.

The Global 8000 entered into service in December 2025 and is positioned by Bombardier as the world’s fastest civilian aircraft. The ultra-long-range business jet has a top speed of Mach 0.95, making it the fastest civil aircraft since the Concorde, and offers a range of 8,000 nautical miles.

According to Bombardier, the Global 8000 also delivers the lowest cabin altitude in business aviation production. When cruising at 41,000 ft, the cabin altitude is maintained at just 2,691 ft, a feature intended to reduce the physiological effects associated with high-altitude travel and support passenger comfort on long-duration flights.

“Attaining EASA certification illustrates the hard work and dedication of Bombardier’s highly skilled employees and suppliers in collaboration with Transport Canada and EASA teams,” said Stephen McCullough, Executive Vice President, Engineering, Product Development and Bombardier Defense. He added that the certification strengthens momentum behind the programme following the aircraft’s entry into service in 2025, with further customer deliveries expected in the coming year.

The Global 8000 is described as the only four-zone business jet capable of flying 8,000 nautical miles, allowing for a greater number of non-stop city-pair connections. Despite its long-range capability, Bombardier notes that the aircraft maintains take-off and landing performance comparable to that of a light jet.

This operational flexibility is supported by an advanced wing design incorporating unique leading-edge slats. Bombardier states that this configuration enables access to up to 30% more airports than the aircraft’s closest competitor, expanding operational options for operators and passengers.

With EASA certification now secured alongside approvals in Canada and the United States, the Global 8000 is cleared for operation across key global markets, reinforcing its role as Bombardier’s flagship ultra-long-range business jet.
