Bombardier has achieved a groundbreaking milestone by becoming the sole business jet manufacturer to disclose the scientifically assessed environmental impact of its complete product range. With the recent release of an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for its Challenger 650 business jet, Bombardier solidifies its commitment to develop and publish EPDs for all its in-production aircraft by 2025. These EPDs, detailing CO2 emissions at every stage of the value chain, are readily accessible on Bombardier’s website, showcasing the company’s dedication to transparency

Jean-Christophe Gallagher, Executive Vice President of Aircraft Sales & Bombardier Defense, highlighted the significance of EPDs, emphasising their role in acknowledging and addressing environmental impact rather than positioning Bombardier’s aircraft as inherently more sustainable. He stressed that EPDs provide clients with factual insights similar to other specification documents, aiding the industry in identifying areas for improvement.

Aligned with its mission to pioneer sustainable business aviation, Bombardier initiated the EPD process to evaluate its aircraft’s environmental footprint comprehensively. This initiative, originating during the development of the industry-leading Global 7500 aircraft, has evolved into a transparency drive, exemplified by the Challenger 650’s EPD release.

Bombardier’s systematic approach to EPDs began with the Global 7500 and expanded to include EPDs for the Challenger 3500, Global 5500, and Global 6500 aircraft. These EPDs are integral to Bombardier’s overarching environmental strategy, enabling proactive measures to mitigate product footprints.

The availability of EPDs for all in-production business jets underscores Bombardier’s commitment to authenticity and innovation in shaping the future of business aviation. It embodies the company’s ethos of transparency and collaboration with its clientele, positioning Bombardier as a leader in environmental stewardship within the aviation industry.
