South African carrier CemAir has marked a milestone in its fleet development with the arrival of its first Bombardier CRJ900. The aircraft, previously operated by Spain’s Air Nostrum and registered as EC-JTU (msn 15079), touched down in Johannesburg on 13 September following a ferry flight from Valencia, Spain, with stops in Tamanrasset, Algeria, and Libreville, Gabon.
The addition of the CRJ900 signals a new phase in the privately owned airline’s growth strategy. Headquartered at Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International Airport, CemAir continues to strengthen its presence in both scheduled and charter passenger services, linking South Africa’s major cities with regional destinations.
Â
CemAir’s existing fleet is anchored in Bombardier regional jet operations, comprising fourteen CRJ100s and three CRJ200s. Complementing this are a DHC-8-100, two DHC-8-300 turboprops, and nine Beechcraft 1900D aircraft, which support its versatile route network and charter capabilities.
Â
The introduction of the CRJ900, offering greater capacity and efficiency, positions CemAir to enhance connectivity and competitiveness within the regional aviation market.
