The Cessna Citation M2 Gen2 has entered service with Garmin Autothrottles, enhancing pilot control, efficiency and performance in the light-entry jet segment.
The Cessna Citation M2 Gen2 has entered into service with the integration of Garmin Autothrottles, further enhancing the capabilities of what is described as the most delivered light-entry jet. The aircraft received certification from the US Federal Aviation Administration in October 2025.
Â
Designed and manufactured by Textron Aviation Inc., a Textron Inc. company, the Citation M2 Gen2 gains increased control and precision through the addition of Garmin’s autothrottle system. The technology assists pilots throughout all phases of flight and provides protection against over-speed and under-speed conditions, supporting smoother power management and reducing cockpit workload.
Â
According to Textron Aviation, the autothrottle system allows pilots to focus more effectively on operation-critical tasks, delivering more intuitive handling and improved efficiency across the entire flight profile. The company said the enhancement reinforces the M2 Gen2’s position as a segment leader in the light-entry jet category.
Â
Lannie O’Bannion, senior vice president of Sales and Marketing at Textron Aviation, said the company continues to invest in its products to deliver an improved aviation experience. He noted that the M2 Gen2 sets the standard for performance and innovation in its class, with Garmin Autothrottles further elevating the flying experience for pilots.
Â
Beyond flight deck enhancements, the M2 Gen2 features a redesigned cabin with premium interior styling, ambient accent lighting and illuminated cupholders. An optional folding side-facing seat can be converted into additional cargo space. The cabin is configured to support productivity, offering wireless charging, USB-A ports at each seat and USB-C ports integrated into two universal 115V outlets. Additional comfort has also been introduced in the cockpit, with three inches of extra legroom added to the co-pilot position.
Â
In performance terms, the Citation M2 Gen2 offers a maximum cruise speed of 404 knots and a range of 1,550 nautical miles. The aircraft can operate from runways as short as 3,210 feet and climb to 41,000 feet in 24 minutes. It is designed for single-pilot operation and is powered by two Williams FJ44-1AP-21 engines, supported by Garmin G3000 avionics, with seating for up to eight occupants.
Â
Textron Aviation also highlighted its global aftermarket support infrastructure, which includes company-owned service centres, authorised service facilities and mobile service units worldwide. The network is complemented by an extensive parts distribution system and 24/7 aircraft-on-ground support aimed at minimising downtime and maximising aircraft availability.
