Kraków, Poland – 31 July 2025 – DefendEye, the Polish company behind the world’s first tube‑launched, fully autonomous AI‑powered search drone, has announced the integration of Starlink Mini satellite connectivity into its portable launch‑tube system. The upgrade allows the DefendEye drone and its cloud command centre to operate anywhere in the world, streaming live, high‑definition video to operations centres and mobile users without relying on cellular networks.
Designed for search and rescue, public safety, and defence operations, the sub‑250 g DefendEye drone offers licence‑free operation in most regions and can be launched in under 10 seconds with no piloting skills required. A 2 TOPS onboard neural processor enables the aircraft to autonomously detect, identify, track, and follow humans in day, night, or adverse weather conditions. Encrypted HD video feeds are routed through DefendEye Cloud for real‑time viewing, alerting, and archiving.
“Embedding Starlink Mini inside our launch‑tube removes the last barrier to true go‑anywhere aerial awareness,” said James Buchheim, CEO of DefendEye. “First responders, search‑and‑rescue teams and military units can now deploy our drones in the most remote locations, push live video to any control room, and even trigger launches from the other side of the planet.”
At a cost of just US $599 per unit, the drone allows agencies to field affordable fleets without the training and licensing burden of traditional UAV systems. Fully integrated systems and demo kits are available for order now, with shipments beginning in September 2025.
