The Do228 NXT demonstrator aircraft will make its public debut at ILA 2026 in Berlin ahead of a planned international demonstration programme.

Next-generation Dornier platform to appear in Berlin static display

General Atomics AeroTec Systems (GA-ATS) has announced that the new Do228 NXT demonstrator aircraft will make its public trade fair debut at ILA 2026 in Berlin.

The aircraft will be displayed during the event, which takes place from 10–14 June 2026, marking the first public presentation of the latest evolution of the Dornier 228 platform.

Demonstrator follows recent first flight

According to GA-ATS, the aircraft recently completed its first flight and associated testing programme ahead of the exhibition appearance. The company stated that the demonstrator is currently receiving a dedicated livery that will be unveiled during the event.

The Do228 NXT demonstrator will be displayed in the static exhibition area H4/100 throughout the event, while GA-ATS will also maintain an exhibition presence in Hall D, Booth 305.

Modernised platform for multi-role operations

GA-ATS described the Do228 NXT as the next generation of the Dornier 228 series, incorporating a modernised cabin, upgraded avionics systems, enhanced communications capability, and expanded special mission equipment options.

The aircraft is intended for a wide range of operational roles including maritime patrol, surveillance, environmental monitoring, disaster response, passenger transport, and cargo operations.

International demonstration programme planned

GA-ATS stated that the demonstrator aircraft will continue to support flight testing and optimisation activities while also serving as a customer demonstration aircraft globally over the coming years.

The company confirmed that the aircraft will also appear at the Farnborough Airshow in the United Kingdom from 20–24 July 2026, where it will again be presented in the static display area.
