ETHIOPIAN MRO ACHIEVES LEAP-1B ENGINE PRSV1 CAPABILITY

Ethiopian MRO Services, Africa’s largest maintenance, repair and overhaul provider, has successfully completed its first Leap-1B Performance Restoration Shop Visit (PRSV1) capability by testing the engine at its state-of-the-art facility. The test cell is certified by both the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority (ET-CAA) and the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Ethiopian Airlines Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Mesfin Tasew, described the achievement as a defining milestone.
“This is truly a proud moment for us. This capability puts Ethiopian MRO among the very few MRO facilities which have achieved the testing capability of the Leap-1B engine. As we are growing our MRO services and expanding our capabilities, this is a milestone moment in the history of Ethiopian MRO. I would like to thank all our partners and my colleagues who contributed to this success,” he said.

The CFM International LEAP-1B engine is the exclusive powerplant for the Boeing 737 MAX. The PRSV1 capability allows Ethiopian MRO Services to restore engine performance to original specifications after extended operational use — positioning the company among a select group of global facilities with this level of expertise.

Certified by ET-CAA, FAA, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and other authorities, Ethiopian MRO Services is Africa’s largest MRO provider. Its services span Line and Base Maintenance, Engine and Component Maintenance, Calibration Services, Structural and Composite Maintenance, Engineering, and Aircraft Stripping and Painting. The company also operates a dedicated facility to manufacture harnesses for the Boeing 737, 747 and 777, which are supplied directly to Boeing.
