FL Technics Indonesia has opened a new dedicated aircraft painting facility at its Bali MRO station and completed its first customer project within days of launch — a Boeing 737-400F repaint for Philippine cargo carrier Skyway Airlines — as the company expands its full-service maintenance capability in Southeast Asia.
BALI PAINTING BOOTH OPERATIONAL; FIRST PROJECT DELIVERED IN UNDER A WEEK
FL Technics Indonesia, an FAA Part-145 certified MRO provider and subsidiary of the Avia Solutions Group, has opened a new dedicated aircraft painting facility at its I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport station in Denpasar, Bali. The painting booth marks a significant expansion of the company’s full-service MRO capabilities across its dual-station network in Indonesia, complementing its existing base at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta.
The speed with which the facility moved from opening to delivery was notable: on 30 June 2026, just days after the facility launched, FL Technics Indonesia completed its first customer project for Skyway Airlines, a Philippine cargo carrier operating Boeing 737-400F freighter aircraft. The project involved a full repaint of the airline’s third aircraft. The newly painted aircraft was subsequently ferried to Clark International Airport in the Philippines, where its inaugural ceremony was held on 3 July 2026.
CAPABILITY, SCALE AND MARKET POSITIONING
Martynas Grigas, Chairman of FL Technics Indonesia, said the addition of a dedicated painting booth in Bali was part of the company’s commitment to building a truly full-service MRO capability in the region. He said he was pleased to welcome Skyway Airlines as the first customer to use the facility, and noted that several more painting projects had already been secured for the coming months, with significant further demand from operators across Southeast Asia seeking this capability.
The Bali painting facility is built to the highest industry standards and is equipped to handle complex livery projects with precision, efficiency and full regulatory compliance. FL Technics Indonesia’s combined network in Jakarta and Bali holds more than 20 approvals from the Indonesian civil aviation authority and is supported by a team of more than 700 aviation experts. The Bali station’s geographic position makes it well suited to serve carriers operating across Indonesia and the wider Southeast Asian region, reducing the need for extended ferry flights or overseas maintenance programmes.
MARKET CONTEXT: BACKLOGS DRIVING MRO DEMAND
The opening of the facility comes in a period of strong demand for MRO services across the Southeast Asian region. Extended aircraft delivery backlogs from the principal narrowbody manufacturers have increased the strategic importance of lifecycle extension and fleet maintenance services, including livery repaints to support airline rebranding, wet-lease transitions and return-to-service programmes. For cargo operators in particular, the ability to carry out aircraft painting work closer to base reduces operational downtime and the cost of ferry flights to distant maintenance facilities — the challenge Skyway Airlines’ choice of FL Technics Indonesia directly addresses.
