GARMIN EXPANDS NAVIGATION DATABASE COVERAGE TO SOUTH PACIFIC

Olathe, Kansas – 12 May 2025 — Garmin (NYSE: GRMN), a global leader in aviation navigation and technology, has announced the expansion of its Garmin Navigation Database to include the South Pacific region, delivering affordable, flexible data solutions to pilots and operators across Australia, New Zealand, and surrounding countries.

Previously available in the Americas and Europe, the Garmin Navigation Database is now accessible to South Pacific-based customers looking to enhance their Garmin avionics with up-to-date navigation information. This expansion marks a strategic move by Garmin to support a broader customer base with scalable and cost-effective database options for its range of avionics solutions, including integrated flight decks, navigators, flight displays, and portable devices.

“The Garmin Navigation Database continues to be an affordable and trusted solution in many regions throughout the world, and we are excited to expand its coverage to the South Pacific region,” said Carl Wolf, Garmin’s Vice President of Aviation Sales, Marketing, Programs & Support. “Customers now have the option for a convenient and comprehensive all-Garmin database solution that provides pilots with the information they need at a cost-effective price.”

With coverage spanning more than 20 countries and over 2,500 airports, the database includes enroute and airspace data, instrument procedures, frequencies, airport information, and more. Notably, it has been enhanced with region-specific content such as verified aircraft landing areas (ALAs) in Australia and visual reporting points (VRPs) in New Zealand, aiding both IFR and VFR operations. The Garmin Pilot™ app further supplements this offering with unverified ALAs clearly identified within the application.

Bundled Value for Pilots

Garmin is offering flexible subscription models, including single updates, device-specific bundles, and the all-inclusive OnePak™ annual subscription — allowing pilots to update all compatible avionics and an eligible portable device within a single aircraft.

South Pacific annual device bundles begin at 860.00 AUD for GNS series units and 1,030.00 AUD for GTN™ series navigators. The OnePak subscription offers significant value, starting at 1,460.00 AUD and increasing to 1,805.00 AUD for packages including FliteCharts terminal procedures.

Standalone Garmin Navigation Database subscriptions are also available, starting at 515.00 AUD annually or 170.00 AUD for a single monthly update.

Simplified Update System

Database updates can be managed via Garmin’s intuitive tools like the Aviation Database Manager, which offers a streamlined desktop experience. Updates are tracked and downloaded automatically, with visual cycle management and reminders. Most updates can be transferred directly to Garmin devices or data cards, with GNS units requiring a USB aviation data card programmer.

Additionally, Garmin’s Database Concierge and PlaneSync™ systems offer even greater ease. Updates can be downloaded via the Garmin Pilot app and transferred wirelessly, or delivered automatically via 4G LTE or Wi-Fi through the GDL® 60 datalink.

The Garmin Navigation Database for the South Pacific region is available now. Visit Garmin.com/SouthPacificDB for more information.
