GE AEROSPACE AWARDS SIX-YEAR CT7 CONTRACT TO BARNES AEROSPACE UK

NEWTON ABBOT, UK – GE Aerospace has strengthened its UK presence with a six-year agreement awarding Barnes Aerospace the manufacture of components for the T700/CT7 engine family at its Newton Abbot facility. The contract supports the UK Government’s Strategic Defence Review goals for resilient supply chains and a competitive industrial base, while contributing to programmes such as the UK New Medium Helicopter initiative.

“This contract highlights our dedication to driving social value, innovation, and economic growth in the UK’s aerospace sector while supporting T700/CT7 operators in a region with advanced technologies and reliable services,” said Scott Keating, Executive Regional Manager for Europe at GE Aerospace.

Barnes Aerospace will produce T700/CT7 airfoils, vital components for the engines’ performance and reliability. The work builds on more than 30 years of collaboration between the two companies. “This represents the first package of work from GE Aerospace to Newton Abbot, and we see it as the start of a long-term relationship between one of our most important customers and an exceptional operating facility that already produces up to one million airfoil components per year,” said George Whittier, Chief Executive Officer of Barnes Aerospace.

The partnership is expected to deliver economic benefits including job creation, apprenticeship opportunities, expanded manufacturing capabilities, skills development, and exports. “These expanding relationships reflect GE Aerospace’s ongoing effort to build strong supplier relationships that drive economic impact and industrial advancement in the United Kingdom,” said Rita Flaherty, Vice President of Global Sales and Business Development at GE Aerospace.

The agreement forms part of GE Aerospace’s broader effort to expand commercial collaborations with UK companies, enhance its manufacturing and service footprint, and generate meaningful social and economic benefits through the UK’s Social Value Model. Recently, GE Aerospace hosted a UK supplier showcase at its Evendale, Ohio headquarters, drawing over 50 UK-based suppliers to explore further partnership opportunities.
